Well, I've gone and done it now. I got a speeding ticket today for the first time in maybe 12 or 13 years. I was near my house and was going 34 in a 25 mph zone. The officer told me that a little girl had been hit on that road and they were strictly enforcing the speed limit. The officer was a "she" so I didn't have much chance of getting out of it. First, I will say that I think that 25 mph is a ridiculous speed, that is way too slow for a normal road. Maybe a school zone or something, but not a normal road. Now I am not saying that I didn't deserve the ticket or anything, but what burns my ass about the whole thing is that when I have called the Sheriff's Department recently, they have told me that they "don't have time" to worry about my drug dealing neighbor, and they "are not concerned" about the fact that every person that drives up to that house or leaves it is drinking and driving. That and there is probably a meth lab inside. Oh, but they have plenty of time to stake out a road and catch little old generally law-abiding me speeding by 9 mph. Oh that is just criminal. I think they need to rearrange their priorities in a big way.
